Hey hey!
Okay, so that dance floor on Saturday night at CAAM was hotter than this heatwave rolling through Southern California. Wow! Y’all really showed up and showed out to get down to the sounds of KCRW DJ Novena Carmel and Guest DJ Michael Donte of Black House Radio. Up next, we’ve got an exciting Summer Nights function this Saturday night at LACMA, featuring grooves by new KCRW DJ Tana Yonas and Guest DJ Cut Chemist, who’s celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut record The Audience’s Listening. This members-only event was quick to hit capacity, so RSVPs are closed. But don’t worry, we’ve got two more amazing Summer Nights parties the following weekend you can still RSVP to. And plenty more to come after that!
Here’s what we’ve got cooking up for the rest of the summer:
Friday, August 14th – KCRW Summer Nights with the Wende Museum (Good Food Night Market Edition)
We’re excited about this new format for a Summer Nights event! Part night market. Part dance party. Always free. KCRW DJs Nassir Nassirzadeh and Anne Litt on the decks!
Saturday, August 15th – KCRW Summer Nights with Metro Art at Union Station
Enjoy a night full of hypnotic grooves from KCRW DJs J. Rocc & LUXXURY (making his Summer Nights debut!), along with a headlining set from RIO KOSTA. Catch them for free in Union Station’s iconic south patio before the duo travels around the world opening for Jungle!
Saturday, August 22nd – KCRW Summer Nights with Taste of Downtown Long Beach
Bring your appetite and dancing shoes to the Taste of Downtown Long Beach, the renowned street festival now in its 17th year! You’ll be swept away with bite-sized food samples alongside local selections of beer, wine, and craft cocktails. KCRW DJs Raul Campos and Nassir Nassirzadeh have you covered with the perfect sun-drenched soundtrack.
Friday, August 28th – KCRW Summer Nights with LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes
Popping up in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles for a live performance from Adrian Quesada’s Trio Asesino! KCRW DJs Wyldeflower and Francesca Harding are holding it down before and after the performance.
Saturday, August 29th – KCRW Summer Nights with Bowers Museum
Orange County, come out and party with us! We’re cruising to Santa Ana for a night with after-hours access to the Bowers Museum and dancefloor magic from KCRW DJs John Tejada and Chris Douridas.
Last but not least, we’re throwing two Summer Nights parties on our final weekend of the series. The first is on September 4th with our friends at Autry Museum of the American West, where guest DJ Trixie Mattel will supply the sounds along with KCRW’s Music Director, Alejandro Cohen, and KCRW DJ SiLVA. Then on Saturday, September 5th, we head Valley-side to the NoHo Arts District with a soulful performance from Madison McFerrin. KCRW DJ LUXXURY opening the festivities, and KCRW DJ Peanut Butter Wolf signing off our final Summer Nights. RSVP ASAP!
Mark your calendars for a jam-packed Summer Nights series! In the meantime, you gotta check out this playlist curated for you by KCRW Music Director Ale Cohen:
