As wildfires continue to impact our communities, your trusted public media organizations are working together to provide you with weekly updates. You can count on receiving free, reliable, and essential local news and information to support you during this critical time.
Wildfire News Updates
Hey there, welcome to the weekly public media wildfires update.
The one-year anniversary of the fires is only a couple of months away, but Dawes — the local band whose members lost their home and studio in the Eaton Fire — is giving us something positive to look forward to. The indie band is hosting A Concert for Altadena, featuring performers like Brandon Flowers of The Killers, Jackson Browne, and many more on January 7th, 2026, with proceeds benefitting the Altadena Builds Back Foundation.
This week, LAist looks into how SoCal Edison is changing how fire victims are paid out, AfroLA has a feature on how Altadena homeowners are preserving neighborhood cottages, KQED delves into the future of Altadena’s surviving trees, and KCRW has your latest Love Letters to L.A.
