Hi there,
I'm writing with news that is kind of hard to believe.
Chery Glaser is about to start enjoying some extra sleep. After 17 years with a 4 AM start time at KCRW and three decades in morning radio, she’s stepping away at the end of this month to begin a new chapter.
Chery is a true icon — she even has a rock band named after her. Her work has been recognized by the LA Press Club and the Gracie Awards, which is fitting given her dedication to supporting women in journalism.
Chery joined KCRW on April Fools’ Day 2007, hitting the air with a wealth of experience from her time at Marketplace Morning Report and commercial radio in LA. From covering live press conferences with George W. Bush and Tony Blair during the Iraq War to the COVID-19 pandemic, plus, as Chery says, “more wildfires, storms, and mudslides than I can shake a stick at,” Chery Glaser has been a steady presence for Los Angeles.
Inside KCRW, Chery is beloved not just for her talent, but for her warmth and wisdom. Her love for music shines through in memories like the time the B-52’s performed at the station, turning the whole place into a dance party.
Chery’s last day will be Friday, August 30th. Jocelyn Rohrback will step in on the morning shift while we search for a permanent replacement.
Please join me in sending Chery best wishes in her new chapter and thank you for your support.
Thank you for being a part of KCRW,
Arnie Seipel
