I know we just celebrated Labor Day weekend, but Summer doesn’t technically end until Monday, September 22nd. We’re milking the season for all its worth. Here are the final four parties:

Saturday, September 6th – Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Block Party
Saturday, September 13th – LA Chinatown
Saturday, Sept 20th – Manuela at Hauser & Wirth

As you can see, we have a double header this weekend. I heard there’s a drone show. Let’s dive in.

Friday, September 5th – Autry Museum of the American West
Music: KCRW DJs Jeremy Sole & Tyler Boudreaux

Join me at Griffith Park! This one is great for guests of all ages, especially families. The dance floor takes place in the courtyard, which is really beautiful and inviting (pics below). Plenty of space to dance in the crowd or off on your own. No judgment. The Family Play Space will be open inside the museum and is a great activity area to take a breather from the dance floor with toys, books, and activities. Plus, the Autry will be open late for you to wander the galleries and explore the special exhibition Black Cowboys: An American Story.

Other things to note: There will be food trucks and bars. PARKING IS FREE!

Saturday, September 6th – Gloria Molina Grand Park's Block Party
Music: KCRW DJs Raul Campos and Jason Kramer

Okay, we’re a little crazy for this one. Head on over to the Summer Nights stage at Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Block Party for what will surely be an extravaganza. We’re stretching what we call “Night” and starting early at 3 PM. We’ll have DJ sets from Black House Radio, Discos Rolas, and KCRW DJs Tyler “Boogie” Boudreaux and Francesca Harding, all hosted by KCRW DJ Raul Campos. Whew!

The whole park is celebrating with lots of community activities & art, and food trucks. And then the night ends with a spectacular drone show that will light up the night sky.

This is a first for us, so no pics to share. But know that you’ll be on grass. So wear shoes that you’d feel comfortable dancing in. Or just go barefoot! That’s what my 19-month-old does. Also, dogs are welcome as long as they’re on a leash. :)

Paid public parking is available, but given the large number of guests expected at the event, we highly encourage taking public transportation. Grand Park is accessible via the Metro Rail B Line at Civic Center/Grand Park Station, the A and E Line at Historic Broadway Station, and local Metro bus lines. Plan your trip at metro.net.
