Wildfire News Updates

Hey there, welcome to the weekly public media wildfires update.

It’s Earth Month, and from coyotes to stingrays to alligator lizards to grasshoppers, we’re reminded every day that we live in an urban jungle, full of wildlife that’s recovering and reacting to the aftermath of the fires and ongoing heat and climate change just like we are.

This week, LAist reports on growing coyote sightings across the area, CalMatters highlights commentary from a candidate running for California Insurance Commissioner who lost his home in the Palisades fire, and KCRW looks at the low snowpack’s impact on the coming months. Plus, PBS SoCal is highlighting environment-focused content from L.A. and beyond all month long.

Stay safe,
KCRW, PBS SoCal, LAist, and CalMatters
